Submission Portal

We are looking for scripts and writers who aspire to create PROTOCALIA: elevated storytelling about human-created systems, and the pressures they place on individuals.

If you have a script or short story, please use the submission portal on Google Drive. Please note this link requires you to be logged in to Google.

Submissions are free. No fees, no paid services, no selling of any kind. However, in exchange, we don’t guarantee a reply or outcome.

Please use the portal—but use it wisely. Scripts outside our mandate (slasher movies, gross-out comedies, etc.) will not make you rich, but will make us sad.

This process is not a transaction or a trojan-horse for anything except what it is: a genuine attempt to find work we love.

For an example, please see this piece I wrote in 2025 on my personal blog. I read a script by Elise H. Greven on the Black List website, Landscape With Woman, an elevated “con” movie set in the art world, that I found so entertaining and impressive, I sought her out to promote online.

Landscape does not quite fit the PROTOCALIA mandate, but it is a powerful and accomplished piece of work and I hope people discover it.

PROTOCALIA is about human-created systems, and the companies that sell services to aspiring screenwriters have created such a system.

Unfortunately, despite some good companies and success stories, it’s one that mostly works to extract money out of people who can barely afford it. It purports to offer access, education and success—but mostly creates stress, confusion and unhappiness.

So this is an attempt to break that system, to take the money out of it, and do something pure: promote what we love.

Get off the hamster wheel. Get onto a different wheel: your own mind as you contemplate great storytelling. It’s much more enjoyable, and productive.
